The Beach

...The, enclosed, beach is silent. The bright ball blinds you as it emerges; it rises like a yellow lollipop on the distant horizon. Crashing against the shore, small waves wash the night's debris onto the land. Untouched golden sand covers the floor as far as your eyes can see. Soothing, a gentle sea breeze rustles through your hair. Beach shops prepare for their day of excited costumers bustling in and out of their small seafront shops. Opening their doors, they bring out all of there beach products looking out to the sea you can see the large cruise ships on the worlds edge. Abandoned, nothing there apart from a few sea gulls pecking at the rubbish left by yesterday's visitors. Empty crisp wrappers, chocolate wrappers, ice cream papers and half eaten cones scatter the yellow sand. Young children stumble onto the moist sand, with small buckets and spades in their hands, they shout and talk in excitement. Damp sand is forced between their toes. Straight away, the young children put on their swimming costumes and are smothered with thick white sun screen, to protect them from the bright sun. Children running towards the shoreline; their parents struggle onto the sand, loaded like camels with everything they will need for their day. Sandwiches, cold drinks, wind breakers, towels all bagged up and slung over both shoulders. A hot sea breeze rushes through the visitor's hair, as you stand there you can taste the salt in the air because it is so strong. The sound of the waves......

The Beach

...Miranda Poole 2/3/13 English 101 Descriptive Essay The Beach: A Relaxing Wonderland It is spring break, in the middle of March, my junior year. As I cross the state line into Florida, I picture the ocean as being a place of peace and serenity. It’s my first time visiting the ocean, and all I can think about is hoping it is as beautiful as the pictures I have seen of it. As I arrive to the beach with all my friends, the eagerness of seeing this peaceful place is rising. I can’t wait to smell the fresh salty air, feel the soft sand between my toes, walk along the breezy shoreline. As we approach the beach, the first thing I notice is the sky. As I look into the cloudless, cerulean blue sky and see the flawlessness of life; in the distance, rolling clear-blue waves crash into each other with such force as that of football players. The sky is breathtaking along with the sounds of the waves and the tide washing onto the shore. The water reminds me of crystals shimmering in the water with the sun reflecting off of it. As the sun sets, the sky turns into a pink hue with a bright orange sun going down into the horizon. We stroll on the beach, and my feet sink into the soft sand. I stroll along, and the grainy, slick, brown sugar sand pulls my bare feet under and leaves a perfect imprint. I pick up a handful and sift it from my palm slowly, feeling the grittiness of sand with each finger. The view down the beach of the white, but slightly brown sand was enough to make my knees......

...SIESTA KEY BEACH, MY FAVORITE LOCATION Of all the places that I have visited, there has never been on that has made me feel as relaxed and content as I do at Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota, Florida. With the sound of the Gulf waters crashing on the soft white sand, the warm sun beating down and the squawking sounds of the seagulls flying overhead, I could sit there for hours. The impact that sitting on Siesta Key beach has on my sense of touch, smell and sound, is one that I have yet to experience on any other beach. I remember the first time I went to Siesta Key Beach with my family. I was about 10 years old. I remember feeling overwhelmed with excitement as I stood on the white sandy beach and looked out into the sparkling waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The sand is baby powder soft and feels wonderful on your feet. It as if you are getting your own personal pedicure with every step you take along the beach. The sand never gets hot which makes it pleasant to take long walks along the shoreline. The first time I went swimming in the Gulf of Mexico I was amazed at how warm and salty the water was. It was like taking a bath in the world’s largest bathtub. There are several outside showers along the beach for you to rinse off the dried salt left on your body after your swim. The sweet smell of the gulf waters reminds me of when I use to live on a lake. Those were such happy times for me. When I am not basking in the sun or swimming in the salty waters of the...

...writting 09-07-13 The Beach Everyone needs a break in life. Chores, school, and work are all daily duties that people want to escape from. The beach releases me from all my responsibilities, so I try to visit the beach every summer at least once. I feel that all work and no play can be socially unhealthy. There should always be time for letup. Everyone needs to get out of work mode once in a while. My cousins enjoy the beach as much as I do, and my cousins always invite me to tag along with them. When I visit the beach, I can personally say that I always create new memories. This past summer, I only got the chance to go to the beach one time, but I still had an amazing time at the beach. The day I went to the beach was perfect. The sun was high in the sky, and the clouds provided just enough shade. The weather for the whole day was beautiful. The sand on the beach was warm to the skin. It felt as if I was walking on a bunch of pillows. As soon as I sat on the beach I completely buried my feet in the sand. The waves where flowing in because of the boat traffic in the distance. The sound of the waves were almost putting me to sleep as I laid on the shore. Many people play recordings of wave sounds to put themselves asleep at night, but the real sound of waves in person is extremely move effective. The water, the sand, and the sky was just exceptional. I could not dream up a better day. The setting of the beach was just right. The great part of the beach is people......

City or Beach

...Statue of Liberty standing still on the water. You walk down the street passing hundreds of little shops and restaurants; all the while you are taken aback by the breathtaking beauty of the city that you are gazing upon. Now, picture lying on the beach while listening to the ocean waves. The air is crisp and the smell of saltwater is bitter sweet. The locations being described are New York City and Long Branch Beach. There are many differences between these places, such as the kind of activities, clothing and equipments, and their pace of life. The first major difference between vacationing on the beach or in a city is the kind of activities you are able to do. While vacationing on the beach, the mind-set is to unwind life’s stresses while enjoying the warm touch from the almighty sun. The average beach vacation includes a wide range of activities, from relaxing on hot sand to catching waves in crisp ocean water to land and sea-based sports. Then there are long evenings of cool, breezy walks and hot nights on the dance floor. However, the most common activities while visiting the beach is mostly water related events such as sailing, swimming, and surfing. But let’s not forget the most sought after activity while visiting the beach, that is sun bathing. The simplicity of lying down on the soft, warm sand while the sun caresses you with its warm touch is wonderful. In the city, even if you are not mesmerized by the city's soaring skyscrapers and monuments, you will be blown......

The Beach Carrier

...Entrepreneur 510 Case 1 Summary Le Xu 102-11-211 The Beach Carrier What is the nature of the product? What are its strengths and weaknesses? Beach Carrier is multifunctional bag in which a consumer can carry lots of things that will be used for a day while spending time on the beach. The bag can also be used to transport difficult-to-carry items, such as ski boots. The strengths of Beach Carrier are its big storage space, better mobility and lower price comparing with two other competitive products in the market. The downsides of this product are its trendy color which is perceived as the image of low quality and unnecessarily larger-than-usual size. What are the limitations to the assumptions Ricci has made in determining the market potential? What risks do these present? The first limitation is that Ricci targeted suntan and sunscreen product consumers as her beach bag’s potential users. Since suntan and sunscreen product can be applied to not only people who go to the beach, Ricci’s assumption of target market could be too broad. Ricci might spend lots of money advertising on the wrong customers. The second limitation is that Ricci assumed that men did not purchase beach bags like women. Ricci should conduct some thorough researches before drawing that conclusion. Ricci might lose a considerable marketing share from male consumers by ignoring......

The Beach

...Descriptive writng. The Beach The beach is a relaxing getaway. There are various things about the beach that stick into my mind. The three main things that stuck to me was the view, smell, and the sound. All the way from beauty of the ocean, how the colors in the sky blended with the motion of the water. I will always remember the sound of pelicans calling each other as they swooped just in front of the orange sunset to scoop the sea water in their flabby necks. Even the taste of the air mixed with the smell of the sand that just made every sense open wide. I will always remember this moment. It was the only time I have ever felt that I had no worry in the world. The view itself would make you never want to leave. The sky blended perfectly from a fire tangerine orange to a soft baby blue. In between the loudest light of red and the quietest shade of blue, lay the deep purple of a night sky waiting for it’s time to take over the sky. The motion of the water drew you in closer to the shining sun just above the water with the moon shining directly above you like a spotlight. The waves were calm with ripples in every direction possible. The tide pushed the shiny wet sand flat as a plate. The shadows of birds flying towards the sun made me think if they were never going to stop until they actually reached the sun. The smell of the ocean is what made this experience one of a kind. The fresh air that wafted in the air gave me the chills that ran up both my arms. The wet sand......

The Beach Carrier Case Analysis

...Matthew Beringer ELE 3010 Parnell February 21, 2016 The Beach Carrier 1. What is the nature of the product? What are its strengths and weaknesses? The Beach Carrier is a bag that is large enough to carry all the items that one needs for a day at the beach. It is large enough to carry a beach chair, but when empty, it can be folded down to 12x12 square inch for easy and convenient storage. The strengths of the product are that is more affordable than the competitor’s products and the material of the bag is perceived as durable. The weaknesses of the product are that the fluorescent colors lessen the perceived quality of the beach carrier and the size of the bag is far larger than necessary. 2. What are the limitations to the assumptions Ricci has made in determining the market potential? What risks do these present? The assumptions Ricci has made in deterging the market potential have a few limitations that present a risk for the product. The first market share objective stated is “People who use suntan and sunscreen products represent the market for The Beach Carrier”. While this may represent a large market for the product, most people who use sunscreen only use it during the summer months or the hot months. This limits the sales of the product due to the seasonality of the target market. Another limitation is that Ricci has perceived the target market to only be women because “men do not buy bags”. This reduces the potential target market by......

The Beach

...The Beach The waves are crashing. The sun is setting. People are laughing and embracing under the sunset. I feel the sand squish slowly through my toes as I gaily walk down the shoreline of the Outer Banks. My all time favorite place to be is the beach. The weather at the beach is the most quarreling of all places in the world. One minute you are relaxing lazily on the sandy seashore reading a most invigorating book. I sit engrossed and allow the foamy mist from the rampant ocean spray your face lightly as though it was the touch of a feather. Off in the distance the sun begins to set in a sleepy unhurried fashion. It is the most beautiful sight I have ever seen. The colors swirl together in a muddled mass across the sky. Crash! Flash! The sky turns wild. Lightning hurls itself across what was once the tame uncaring heaven. Thunder booms while the atmosphere relieves itself of unwanted moisture. A violent explosion of heavenly emotion has replaced my peaceful evening. What could be more exciting than living in a place where your plans could be intruded upon so abrasively by a cause you cannot control? Sand castle building is the most enjoyable and childish activity available to people over the age of ten. Building sand castles is a very creative process. First, I have to decide what type of architecture I am going to construct my castle around. The architecture can be old-fashioned, contemporary, or even imaginary...

...depreciated on a straight-line basis over a 5-year period starting from... Ocean Carriers Assumptions and Methodology Based on an NPV analysis considering multiple scenarios, Ocean Carriers should commission the construction of a new capesize carrier in the event they are operating with no corporate tax and chartering the ship for its entire 25 year life. Such is the recommendation assuming the forecasted hire rates and estimated costs are accurate over the long-term. However, if Ocean Carriers chooses to adhere to their policy of selling ships at market value after 15 years, they will incur a net loss on the investment regardless of whether operations are based in the United States or Japan. Future cash flows are based on given data including annual operating days, daily hire rates, daily operating costs calculated at 100 bps plus 3% inflation, net working capital growing at the inflation rate and the current capesize price and market value after 15 years. Cash flows were discounted at 9% and a top-down approach was used to derive the operating cash flows in every scenario. The first scenario assumes Ocean Carriers is a U.S. based firm subject to a 35% corporate income tax. The capesize depreciates straight-line over 5 years and is sold after 15 years at an after-tax salvage value of $3,250,000. In this case, the NPV is calculated at -$3,912,677.91. The next scenario assumes Ocean Carriers is not required to pay any taxes. Using the same depreciation method as......

...The Beach On a hot summer day, you would go out to the beach to enjoy the view, the weather and the water. It was a sunny Friday afternoon when I decided to take my observations with me out into the world. I find that my imagination wanders off on its own and takes trips to the ocean without me, so I figured my body had some catching up to do. With a snap of my fingers and a short ride through the mountains. I found myself at my childhood playground, Santa Cruz Beach. The location is near the ocean side, steep rocky hills to the left and sand for days to the right. I ran down to the sand as fast as I can and without hesitation I laid my towel down upon the tiny grains and chips of rocks that the oceans might had turned into sand over the years. I took a moment to put my life on hold and gaze at what nature had to offer to me. I reflected upon all of the other places I could have been instead of standing with my toes curling in the warm sandy beach and smiled in appreciation of my situation. It was perfect weather out for a day at the beach. The clear sky didn’t have a single cloud to block the rays of the radiant sun. I could sense the feeling of ultra relaxation from the outstretched deep blue canopy above and the penetrating warmth that emanated from the sky and wrapped around my skin like a warm blanket on a cold winter’s night. Every once in a while a cool breeze would pass by and ease away the sun’s intense heat bath for brief moment. I could feel grains of sand...

The Beach

...The Nights at the Beach. It’s a place where my heart lays calmly with constant beat. As I sit and look across the ocean and see the moon’s reflection on its surface, I wonder if there is any other place that could makes me feel more at peace, unharmed and relax. This is my place where I can come to rest my mind, away from all the crowds and the mixture of noise in the city. If you don’t look at the ocean closely, pay every attention to it, you might never find its specialness like the way I do. When I sit in this very spot, I can see the beautiful sunrise and enjoy the romantic moon light under the sky when it takes place. Along in the distance not too far from here, a few people had said they could see a mysterious island under the moon light. Most people believe it was just an illusion, created by the effect of the moon light reflected off the water surface. They say if you come here usually, you can tell the amazing colors of the surface change throughout the year when you look at the water. From a nature deep blue in the winter to a pale green in the summer, the amazing view is one of the memories that will stay with me from now until I die. As the tide was rising up, the mist will be twinkling down my toes and the smell of it will take over me, bring me to a stage of mind where I can only hear the sound of the ocean waves surrounding me. This is the scent of the earth being born again. The water is the one thing that centers me to earth. It has a grounding aspect......

The Beach Carrier Essay example

1509 WordsFeb 20th, 20137 Pages

Q1: What is the nature of the product? What are its strengths and weaknesses?
A1: The Beach Carrier is a new product concept developed by Mary Ricci. It is a large, lightweight, durable bag that is designed to carry everything required for a day at the beach, including a chair. The Beach Carrier can be folded down to a 12-inch by 12-inch square for easy storage when not in use. It comes with an adjustable strap and various-sized pockets for carrying all types of items to the beach or other outdoor activities (i.e. concerts, picnics, and barbecues).

The Beach Carrier possesses several strengths relative to competitive products in the market, including the following:
1. First, the overall product concept of a single bag that can carry…show more content…

4. The fluorescent colors of the Beach Carrier are see-through and considered “trendy”, lessening the perceived quality of the bag.

Q2: What are the limitations to the assumptions Ricci has made in determining the market potential? What risks do these present?
A2: In assessing the market potential for the Beach Carrier, there are several assumptions that Ricci made that could significantly impact the overall market share potential. These include the following:
1. First of all, Mary Ricci has made the general and often-popular assumption that “bigger is better”. However, a 36-inch by 36-inch bag is huge and would be extremely heavy if completely filled. People may prefer to have a smaller bag and limit the items that they bring to the beach or on another outing.
2. Second, the Beach Carrier utilizes an adjustable shoulder strap for carrying and Mary has assumed that this method would not be viewed as a negative when compared to the “Caddy Shack” (backpack-type) or the “Wonder Wheel” (oversized wheels). However, many consumers would likely view these other carrying methods as an advantage, especially if one is packing lots of stuff including chairs and umbrellas.
3. Next, Mary based her market research on all people who use suntan and/or sunscreen products. This may be a significant overstatement of the market as many people who use these products
